Special permission has been granted by Natural England and Warwickshire Wildlife Trust for us to run courses at the picturesque Clowes Wood. This special site includes a mixed deciduous trees and interesting plants and mushrooms to discover.
Located on the edge of Solihull, this course is within easy reach of Birmingham, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Coventry, Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, Drotiwich Spa, Kidderminster, and Stourbridge.
When we meet up, we will go through laws and safety points of foraging before heading out to discover the wild food in the area.
The course includes:
an overview of foraging laws and safety best practice
exploration of the venue
introduction to a number of edible species
instruction on how to tell edible species apart from poisonous lookalikes
tips on harvesting
information on where to find these species again
wild food sample/s such as soup, jam, jelly, pesto, vinegar, cordial
digital information sheet sent after the course
Any samples given are 100% plant/fungi-based or have a 100% plant/fungi-based alternative.
The exact meeting location and park access details will given two days before the course date.
Participants must be aged 18 or over - sorry, no children under 18 or babes in arms on this course.
Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on the course.
We cannot guarantee what species will be growing on any given course date. As a rough guide, Springtime and summer courses should be predominantly plant focused, with mushrooms sometimes found; Summer courses should also have fruits and flowers to learn about, and Autumn courses should be mostly mushroom-focused with a small amount of plants available
