About Hedgerows and Hagstomns
Who we are
Hedgerows and Hagstones began life as The Foraging Course Company, founded by Kerry Bowness to share a passion for wild foods, plants, fungi and the natural world. Whilst foraging remains part of what we do, our work has evolved considerably over the years, leading us to begin the process of rebranding as Hedgerows and Hagstones: a name that better reflects both who we are and where we’re heading.
Today, our experiences explore far more than what is edible. We share the science, folklore, mythology, ecology and natural history of the species that surround us, and believe there is always more to discover when we take the time to look a little more closely.
From fungi and plant identification to folklore walks, natural history experiences and foraging courses, we aim to inspire curiosity about the remarkable natural world. You might learn how fungi shape entire ecosystems beneath our feet, discover the traditional uses of our wildflowers, explore the myths and legends woven through our landscapes, or simply gain the confidence to identify some of our most familiar native species.
Our walks, talks and workshops combine scientific knowledge with storytelling to create engaging and immersive experiences for adults of all levels of experience. Whether you’re joining us for your very first guided walk or are already passionate about the natural world, we hope you’ll leave having discovered something new.
Everything we do is underpinned by a commitment to conservation, sustainability and responsible engagement with nature. We believe that understanding the species around us is one of the most powerful ways of encouraging their protection, and we are passionate about helping others develop a deeper appreciation of the landscapes they explore.
The natural world is endlessly fascinating. It can be beautiful, mysterious and surprising. At Hedgerows and Hagstones, we invite you to discover nature's stories, science and secrets, and to see the world around you a little differently than when you arrived.

Kerry has a lifelong passion for plants, fungi, folklore and mythology. She has been a wild food instructor, plant and fungi identification teacher, and folklore storyteller for many years
