The Foraging Course Company is carefully monitoring instructions from the British Government, Public Health England and NHS regarding the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.
Spring courses 2021 - post Prime Minister's statement
Following the Prime Minister's statement to Parliament this afternoon (22 February 2021), we are saddened to confirm that all outdoor courses scheduled up to and including 28 March 2021 will be unable to go ahead as planned. If you are booked on to one of these courses, you will be contacted shortly by email.
From 29 March 2021, courses will be able to go ahead under guidelines for organised outdoor sport and small gatherings.
Once guidelines and restrictions have been published, we will inform participants.
If courses are cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions
If The Foraging Course Company has to cancel a course you are booked on to due to Covid-19 restrictions, depending on your method of booking, the following applies:
Direct cash booking (eg. using Stripe, PayPal, Apple Pay etc) - a refund will be issued
Voucher, code, or gift card/certificate - a new voucher/code valid for 12 months will be issued
Mixture of voucher and cash - refund for cash booked places, new vouchers/code for non-cash (voucher) booked places
Level-5 lockdown from 6 January 2021 Courses are unable to take place during a lockdown initiated by Alert Level 5. However, we are hopeful that this lockdown will be lifted before outdoor courses are due to start again in March.
Tier 4 announcement on 18 December 2020
Courses are unable to take place in Tier 4 areas. However, we are hopeful that all of our course areas will be released from these tighter restrictions before the season starts again in Spring.
Following the announcement on 23 November 2020 of the new three-tiered system and permitted activity within those tiers, we are pleased that as small outdoor events, all 2021 courses listed on our site are going ahead. We will be following Government Covid-secure guidelines and regulations, as well as venue requirements, applicable at the time of running. This may include, but is not limited to, non-contact temperature readings taken from the forehead, regular hand sanitising on courses, social distancing, wearing of face (nose and mouth) coverings when in close proximity, and non-attendance of participants potentially exposed to the virus.
Although we have been following Covid-secure guidelines all year, please note that these will become law (as legal obligations) from Thursday 23 September 2020. Anybody who does not abide by the guidelines will be asked to leave the course and will not be entitled to a refund or compensation.
Rule of Six
The Government has confirmed that organised outdoor activities such as our courses are unaffected by the law changes that came into effect on Monday 14 September 2020 regarding the restriction of social gatherings to six persons. The exception to this is that a group of friends/family attending one course together is restricted to six persons.
Local tier systems and socialising restrictions
If you reside in an area that is currently under local lockdown measures, you may be restricted from socialising with people outside of your household. This means meeting up with people you know or are related to in a social capacity. If you are under these restrictions and meeting up with somebody on a course who is not part of your household, please let us know as much in advance as possible: email us.
Following current Government guidance regarding meeting outdoors and outdoor events, we are also able to offer in person private courses in permissible situations. Under current restrictions, private courses are restricted to six persons. Corporate or training courses do not have a participant number limit. For information, please email us.
If there have been any changes to your course, you will be sent an email by a member of our team. Please check your spam folder. Pre-course information emails, including regulation requirements, will be sent two days before your course.
