Discover the essential skills and techniques required to identify different species of fungi on this interactive identification course. This course will be entirely outdoors. This course is not a foraging course.

Ideal if you are starting out into this fascinating subject, or for those who feel frustrated when trying to identify from guidebooks alone

This course will look at macroscopic techniques - those that use the human eye as opposed to microscopic or lab analysis - and will be fieldwork based 

You will be provided with your own guidebook, hand lens, notepad, pen, and collection vessels to use on the day and keep

 

Due to Covid-secure measures, places will be limited to allow for current guideline compliance. 

Lunch is not currently being provided at this venue. There is a cafe on site serving pre-packed food or you may bring your own lunch.

This course will include:

  • instruction and guidance on mushroom identification

  • an introduction to scientific names

  • an introduction to tree identification

  • fungi foray 

  • field identification session

  • guidebook and equipment for you to keep

Varying terrain, mostly grassland, waterside and woodland

Age limit

Participants must be aged 18 years or older - no children under 18 or babes in arms allowed on this course

Dogs

Dogs are not allowed to be brought along on this course
